Nima Rostami Alkhorshid:
Why does Israel view Iran as a threat and believe that war with Iran would benefit them despite the risks?
Do you think Netanyahu would risk attacking Iran without U.S. support?
Why doesn’t the U.S., especially under Trump, consider new political strategies to improve relations with Iran and reshape Middle East dynamics?
Graham E. Fuller:
Israel sees Iran as a threat because it is a major regional power and could potentially challenge Israel’s nuclear dominance in the region. This perceived threat reinforces Israel’s desire for regional dominance.
It’s unlikely that Netanyahu would attack Iran without full U.S. backing. Such a war would be costly, cause regional instability, and damage U.S. interests, which makes American support essential for Israel.
Trump has shown some openness to rethinking U.S. foreign policy, moving away from permanent enemies and endless wars. He seems to prefer negotiation over confrontation, which could lead to changes in how the U.S. deals with Iran.
